WEST PLAINS, MO (March 30, 2013) – Michael Hinton, West Plains, MO Tourism Development Advisory Council Member and Founder/Owner of TheAntiqueTractorShow.com has recently submitted two articles for consideration of inclusion in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History Agricultural Innovation and Heritage Archive.

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History is asking the public to help preserve the innovations and experiences of farming and ranching across the United States. Individuals can share their stories about the technologies and innovations that have changed agricultural work, as well as how these changes have affected their communities. The museum hopes to build a comprehensive digital archive of modern agriculture through user-submitted personal stories and photos.

Hinton submitted a summary of his Antique Tractor Preservation work over the past three years in an effort to document and preserve in the Agricultural Innovation and Heritage Archive, the three consecutive Antique Tractor Preservation Day Proclamations signed by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon, Hinton’s mention in the Congressional Record, and his two consecutive USPS Pictorial Postmarks recognizing Antique Tractor Preservation.

Hinton said “this is one more way of recognizing the importance of preserving our Agricultural Heritage and the efforts the State of Missouri and Community of West Plains have undertaken to keep this Heritage in the forefront for generations to come.”

Both article submissions are currently being reviewed by the National Museum of American History for consideration in the Archive website. The full Archive of accepted submissions will be preserved and made publicly available on April 15, 2013, creating a new database for students, researchers, and scholars.
